The French Peugeot cycling team was regarded as one of the peloton's most successful teams in the 1970s and 1980s. The Peugeot team jersey is easily recognizable on the road, with its famous black checkerboard pattern. The team was known for producing some of the greatest champions in cycling history, including Jacques Anquetil, Tom Simpson, Bernard Thevenet, and Robert Millar.
